An Intervention Maybe the Way to Show Them the Truth
How could something that was created to help people be turned into something that only causes them harm? Prescription drug abuse is a growing problem in our world today. There are people out there who are lying to doctors and hospitals about symptoms and pain that they do not even have in order to get a prescription.

Being addicted to prescription drugs is a very dangerous thing because you really have no idea what will happen when you mix different medications. On top of that, some medications have severely painful withdrawal symptoms. This is why it is important for you to go through the detoxifying stage with the help from professionals. There is no way that you will be able to make it through this on your own.
You are going to need to look into an inpatient substance abuse program so that you have the proper medical attention ready and nearby. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that many facilities offer a medication to help reduce the pain during the detox, but because you are trying to get off prescriptions, not all facilities will let you have them.
The first step before the detoxification can begin is admitting that there is a problem. Most addicts do not see their addiction as a problem and more often than not, they think that they have everything under control. There has probably been a time when a friend or family member has mentioned to them that they may have a problem, but the addict simply tends to let it go in one ear and out the other. If this sounds familiar to you, then it may be time for you to look into having an intervention.
An intervention is where you and all of the important people in the addicts life comes together at one time and sits down with the addict as a group to tell them how their addiction is hurting them personally and the addict themselves. By hearing this from all the people that matter to them, the addict is usually forced to see them the way that they really are and sometimes they had no idea that they were causing so much pain.
If an intervention goes well it will not only show the addict how bad their addiction actually is, but will also help the rest of the people in the room work through some of their pain and have a restored feeling of hope for their loved one. If you are thinking of holding your own intervention, you can get more information at an intervention center.
